Trouble Falling Asleep?
Are you someone that has trouble falling asleep at night? Whether this is a battle that youve been fighting for years, or its due to temporary stress and pressure, this can be so detrimental to your overall health and quality of life. It may be time to give over-the-counter sleep aids a try and if that doesnt work for you it may be time to visit a doctor to get a diagnosis. Sometimes insomnia and other sleep disorders can be a symptom of more serious illness, so you dont want to delay seeing your doctor if this goes on for long periods of time.
There are also quite a few things you can try to do or eliminate in your regular routine to see if this can make a difference in your trouble falling asleep at night.
Are you accustomed to having wine with your dinner at night? Or maybe you enjoy that stiff drink as a nightcap after dinner. Many people assume that since the alcohol can make you feel quite drowsy, it is not a hindrance to your sleeping pattern. In fact, drinking alcohol before bed can have quite a negative effect on how you sleep. Though it may cause one to drift off to sleep quickly and easily, sometimes your sleep can be interrupted and fitful throughout the night which is not really doing you any favors. Another common culprit attributed to not getting a proper nights rest, is drinking caffeine before bed or consuming a lot of caffeine throughout the course of a day. Many people falsely assume that it is enough to stop drinking caffeine a few hours before bed. In fact, depending on the person, your cut-off time for drinking caffeinated beverages may need to be much earlier than this as it can really stay in your system for quite a long period.
If you take these simple steps and you do not notice any difference in your sleeping pattern, do schedule a visit with your doctor and know that there are many things that he or she can suggest that will eliminate your trouble falling asleep.
